Hints are not always visible

Some people find it difficult to recognize when a conversation has reached its natural end. Others may leave abruptly because they do not know how to close the interaction smoothly.

Make the ending explicit

Try “I need to return to my work now,” “Let’s pause here and continue tomorrow,” or “I have two minutes left, so what is the key point?” Clear endings are not unfriendly; they reduce guesswork and make time boundaries visible.

Try this next

Use a friendly, direct closing phrase instead of waiting for someone to infer that you need to leave.
